When someone mentions modern rock, you may think of bands like Marilyn Manson, Staind, Powerman 5000, Reveille, and Saliva - all of which are familiar names to the avid rock fan. Now, ask yourself this question - what do the aforementioned bands have in common? The answer is quite simple: Soundevice.
When renowned vocalist Erik Rogers (Stereomud) parted with Columbia Records in the summer of 2003, after two major label releases (Perfect Self and Every Given Chance), he decided that he wasn't finished with the music industry yet.
Enter Craig Maule. At the time of Erik's departure from Columbia Records, Craig (former bassist for the band Lifer) was finishing up a tour with the band 420 Monks, and ready for a break. Erik and Craig agreed to start a side project together and soon they met with longtime friend Cheney Brannon. Cheney (former drummer for the band Bend) brought along fellow bandmate Jason Grover (guitarist for Bend) and there was instant chemistry.
Within a matter of days, several songs were recorded, and two months later Billy Grey, former guitarist for bands like Sickspeed, Method 51, and Fozzy joined the three musicians. With Erik on vocals, Craig on bass, Cheney on drums, and Jason and Billy on guitars; Soundevice was born.
Now, only three months after the band was formed they already boast performing shows with bands like Marilyn Manson, Staind, 50 Cent, and Cypress Hill. They are currently playing live shows, as well as working on an album set to be released in early 2004, making it only a matter of time before Soundevice becomes a common name to today's rock fans.
