+++ This Holiday Life +++

This week, school is back in session for all, meaning the holidays are officially over. It's time to give up fun times to return to hours of homework. That's where you're wrong. The fun shouldn't stop there. One band, This Holiday Life, plans to keep you entertained to make sure you stay cheery all year round!

Originating from San Diego, an area known for hosting such musical successes as Switchfoot and Blink 182, This Holiday Life is sure to make headlines by overwhelming their audiences with an emotive rock n roll session. Although the band started in SD, three of the four members have a bit of the Midwestern style to add to the band. In February of last year, a month known for bringing lovers together, these three individuals combined forces with a southern cali dude to create This Holiday Life.

The band prides off merging both former indie rock with a pop sound that is sure to satisfy a diverse taste. With influences such as Foo Fighters, Coldplay, and U2, it’s likely we’ll see these guys follow in their footsteps in the near future. Already making commotion by playing gigs with Switchfoot and Noise Ratchet, This Holiday Life is on the prowl to make you aware of their existence. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you haven’t listened to radio stations, 92.1 and 94.9, which have played their first single, ÒCome and RemainÓ on heavy rotation. Even if you aren’t a fan of the radio, go for a walk around town in San Diego. Stop at some of the concert venues and you may find stickers, fliers, and other promotional devices pertaining to This Holiday Life. I find the quote, “If you build it, they will come,” most fitting for their promotional tactics since they are building their popularity while fans continue to come.

So how can you acquaint yourself with This Holiday Life? They released a demo in November 2002 including three songs recorded and produced by Brent Milligan. Since this release, the band has played many gigs while working on an official CD release. Now, on January 31, the band is ready to show you how to celebrate the holidays by hosting their official CD release party at Soma. And get this, proceeds of the event will go to Father Joe Villages to help give education, purpose and shelter to San Diego's homeless youth. Santa would be proud of this spread of holiday cheer. Several other local bands including Shotgun Vegas, Parker Theory, and Something Like Silas are also on the bill that night.

So, deck the halls with promo stickers, don we now with band t-shirts, and see the blazing band before us as we follow This Holiday Life’s conquest to succeed in the music world.
