NURAL
by Jordan Hoefar
What does it take for a band to ‘make it’? What sets apart the famous ones from the common garage bands? Judging by acts such as Ashlee Simpson and others it doesn’t seem to always require talent. But fortunately for us, pop culture catastrophes such as those aren’t daily occurrences.
When I think of a band that deserves to make it, I think of one that puts everything they have into their music. They play so much that their sound evolves past what you would think of as a ‘typical’ teenage rock band. When I think of talent and potential, Nural comes to mind. This five-piece formed in 2000 when the members were still young. Fast-forward to now and you’ll see that they have recently signed with Hopeless records and are preparing for their debut to the world.
The factors, in this writer’s opinion, that make this band such a possibility for radio fame is how dynamic they are. When listening to Nural you do not hear the same song throughout the CD. You do not hear simply all hard rockin’ songs or all ballads (but I must say, these guys know how to rock out). If the music isn’t enough to sell you on Nural then wait until you hear the ever so powerfully beautiful and chilling vocals of the bands young front man, Kyle Castellani. Not to mention meaningful and heartfelt lyrics expressed in each song. But not only are they “good” at what they do, their songs are memorable and enjoyable to listen to. They’re catchy, but not the pop kind of catchy. Simply put, if you were to hear this band on the radio, most of you would enjoy them and find yourself singing along down the road.
Ultimately Nural is a band full of talent, potential, and maturity. Throughout the years their sound has evolved and grown. If you want proof go compare “Hesitating” to “The Curse”. Nural has found their sound and a financial backing so all that is left is to win over the hearts of listeners, and all that will take is exposure. Hopeless Records made a smart move to pick this band up and I wouldn’t be surprised if within the next year or two bigger labels will be eager to get their greedy hands on them. As for you lucky people reading this, I recommend heading over to www.nuralmusic.com and giving them a listen. If you like what you hear, don’t be cheap...Instead support this young band. They certainly deserve it.
